Voting for 2024 CAA's Worst Roads Has Begun

THOROLD, ON (March 27, 2024) – Voting is officially underway for the 2024 Worst Roads Campaign. Presented by the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA), this annual initiative aims to shed light on the most problematic roadways across our region and advocate for much-needed improvements.

Starting today, March 27, concerned drivers, cyclists, transit riders and pedestrians are encouraged to cast their votes for the roads they deem the worst in terms of potholes, congestion, safety hazards, and overall condition. By participating in the voting process, individuals have the opportunity to make their voices heard and contribute to positive change in their communities.

"We're excited to launch the 2024 Worst Roads Campaign and work with the public to identify areas in urgent need of attention," said Rhiannon Fleming, communications specialist at CAA Niagara. "Every vote counts, and together, we can raise awareness about the challenges faced by road users and advocate for improvements that enhance safety and quality of life."

To participate in the voting process, simply visit caaworstroads.com and nominate the roads you believe deserve recognition. “Whether it's a notorious stretch of pothole-riddled pavement, a precarious crossing for pedestrians or a congested thoroughfare causing daily headaches for commuters, every submission contributes to the campaign's mission of highlighting infrastructure issues and advocating for change.” adds Fleming.

Voting will remain open until April 19, 2024. In 2023, Portage Road in Niagara Falls took top spot as Niagara’s Worst Road followed by Ontario Street in St. Catharines then Lundy’s Lane, Willoughby Drive and Drummond Road in Niagara Falls.

CAA encourages all Niagara residents to cast your vote today and help pave the way for safer, smoother travels in Niagara.
